Regular maintenance is essential to the safety, reliability, drivability, comfort, and longevity of your Kia, and it helps you avoid costly repairs and breakdowns. Routine care not only keeps your Kia performing at its best but also extends its lifespan.
The following tips will help you keep your vehicle in excellent condition between services.
Check your engine oil level every couple of weeks, making sure the vehicle is on level ground. The oil should sit within the marks on the dipstick — never below the minimum or above the maximum.
A regular oil change (every 10,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first) is the single service most likely to extend the life of your engine. Skipping oil changes, exceeding the recommended mileage, or leaving long intervals between changes can affect the oil's viscosity (consistency), accelerating wear on the engine's moving parts and potentially leading to premature failure. A range of other vital fluids — brake fluid, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, and coolant — must be checked and replaced periodically.
Engine coolant should be kept within the specified level in the transparent coolant reservoir. Your Kia service centre will replace the coolant every two years or 40,000 km, as coolant becomes more acidic over time and loses its rust-inhibiting properties, which can cause corrosion and damage to the radiator, water pump, thermostat, and other cooling components.
Brake fluid should be checked regularly to ensure optimal braking performance. A low fluid level can reduce braking force, which can be dangerous in an emergency.
Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) is replaced according to the transmission type fitted to your model. Your owner's manual provides the recommended ATF change interval.

Regular battery testing helps ensure your battery is ready to start your Kia. It is important to test your battery and electrical system routinely — not only when the battery begins to show signs of weakness. Proactive testing at each service reduces the likelihood of failure.
If you plan to leave your Kia parked for a long period — for example, while on holiday — we strongly recommend disconnecting the battery's negative terminal to protect it from discharging.
Maintaining the correct inflation pressure is essential for good handling and longer tyre life. You will find the recommended tyre pressure on the driver's-side B-pillar or in your owner's manual.
Tyre pressure should always be checked with a quality air gauge, as it cannot be judged accurately by sight alone.
Long-term parking can affect your tyres, causing a permanent deformation known as a flat spot, which cannot be corrected by driving and may be felt as a disturbance or vibration on the road. The best way to avoid this is to inflate the tyres to 45 PSI with an air compressor before a long period of parking. Please note that the vehicle must not be driven at this elevated pressure — reduce the tyres to the optimum pressure before driving.
